Shee Tse Koon

Chief Executive Officer , Standard Chartered Bank, Indonesia


Shee Tse Koon is Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Indonesia. He was appointed to his current position in July 2014. In this role, he manages a business with 3,000 people in 26 branches across 7 cities. Prior to this, he spent four years in Dubai, where he was Head of Governance, West, supporting 49 countries across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Americas.

During his stint in Dubai, Tse Koon was also the Senior Executive Officer (SEO) of SCB's branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). As SEO, he was directly responsible for the operations and governance of SCB's DIFC Branch.

Tse Koon has also served as non executive director on the boards of Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Limited and Standard Chartered Capital Saudi Arabia.

In his twenty years with SCB, Tse Koon has assumed a wide range of roles across Corporate Banking Sales and Operations. From 2005 to 2010 he was Chief Information Officer in Singapore, overseeing more than 500 staff across technology and operations and he was instrumental in the establishment of the Bank's Global Shared Service Centres in India and Malaysia.

In his role as president and chief executive officer, Rob leads Interface's business operations in Asia Pacific; including Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, China, India, Japan and Korea. This vast and diversified region is an exceedingly growing market currently serviced by numerous Interface offices and authorized dealers as well as three manufacturing plants

Rob has more than 30 years of experience in marketing and senior management positions, from the fashion industry, to FMCG and the carpet industry. Working in multinational focused role, Rob has business leadership experience in Australia, Europe and Asia.

Joining Interface in 1988, Rob has been with the company for more than 20 years and over this period worked closely with Ray Anderson, the late founder of Interface. Sharing Ray's passion for sustainability, Rob ensures Interface Asia-Pacific continues to be a leading proponent of sustainable business development via its Mission Zero commitment.

As a long serving member of the Board of the Green Building Council of Australia, Rob contributed a manufacturer perspective on the need to create a built environment in harmony with nature. Rob frequently speaks to trade associations, manufacturers, businesses, universities and media on how making the strategic shift to a business model that is in line with nature leads to better business results.

Sean Tan, Founder and COO of The GoodWater Company (TGWC), a social enterprise, has exactly what the world needs – an integrator of social and environmental solutions to address communities residing at the Bottom of The Pyramid (BoP). In just 3 years, he has transformed TGWC into an enterprise CSR, Social and Environmental Solutions Company with offices in 4 countries. Currently headquartered in Singapore, at Biopolis, TGWC is also present in Shanghai/Beijing and has a second center of excellence in Jakarta. The company has also been nominated as top SME 500 in Singapore.

Upon graduating from the University of Tasmania with a BA in International Business, Sean has spent half his life in the software & banking industry holding various global management positions. It was at the end of 2011, that he decided to pursue an entrepreneurial path in the social and environmental sphere. Since then, he strives to catalyse positive changes in the ecosystems at the BoP.

Sean, in his late 30s, envisions TGWC to be a global aggregator for social and environmental innovations. He has been invited to speak in events organised by universities, forums and international social entrepreneurship conferences. He is also a regular speaker in many workshops that TGWC organizes, with the most recent being the Indonesia Music and Mission Festival.

Outside of work, Sean enjoys spending quality time with his beautiful wife and 3-year old daughter.

Nenny Soemawinata

Nenny Soemawinata was born in India on 31st of January 1954. She spent most of her early years living overseas and came home to Indonesia after completing her studies at the Auckland Technical Institute, New Zealand, in Computer Programming in 1976.

Nenny started her career by joining the hotel industry for five years and then led her to enter the advertising world and join Fortune Advertising. She was promoted to Account Supervisor within six months and then became Account Director two years later.

During her time in advertising she handled many local and multi-national accounts, including Sampoerna, Prodenta/L'Oreal, RJ Reynolds and Nestle. After 5 years in local agency, she expanded her horizon by joining a larger and more reputable agency, Indo-Ad / Ogilvy & Mather, and became President Director.

In February 1996, she faced news challanges by joining a private commercial station, ANTEVE, owned by Bakrie family as Marketing Director. She was then promoted to General Manager and CEO in December 1996. Her entrance in to the television network didn't stop here. She later on then joined other networks such as RCTI as Director of Operations, and later in 2001 form a Content Provider & Consultancy Company, M-Lynx. She then with a partner formed a wireless/ mobile content provider & solutions, Mobilelynx.

At the end of 2005, working with leading media group, MRA group, she helped built their TV channel, O Channel. In 2008, she was employed by UTV Malaysia to assist in developing a second pay TV service.

In 2009, Nenny joined Putera Sampoerna Foundation as the Managing Director and COO. Under her leadership the company evolved from a philanthropic organization into a social business institution and expanding its business core from education to empowerment, not only of students, but of teachers, women and entrepreneurs. The Foundation has gone from focusing on access to education to improving existing schools and on to the development of international standard boarding academies and tertiary institutions, as well as teacher enhancement programs and beyond.

Parmaningsih Hadinegoro, a mother of two, graduated from Gadjah Mada University, Faculty of Economy majoring in Accountancy in 1980. She started her career in December as a management trainee of PT. Unilever Indonesia (PT. ULI). As a trainee she had an opportunity to be involved in the process of PT. ULI's share issue; after which she held various positions in the Accounting and Finance area within the Company.

Tuan Haji Shamsul holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, USA and Masters in Business Administration from University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).

Tuan Haji Shamsul joined the National Electricity Board on 2nd June 1988 upon completion of his studies in the United States as a fully sponsored scholar of National Electricity Board. He started off his career on 2nd June 1988, in Sultan Salahuddin Abd Aziz, Kapar and then moved to Generation Operations Department, Serdang Gas Turbine Project, Putrajaya Power Station and Connaught Bridge Power Station. He was then seconded to Kapar Energy Ventures, a coal plant with 2400 MW capacity in February 2008, an IPP and a subsidiary owned jointly by TNB and Malakoff. He is then assigned to TNB Janamanjung Sdn. Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of TNB on 5th September 2011 as the Chief Operating Officer / General Manager of Sultan Azlan Shah Power Station with generating capacity of 2100 MW.

With 27 years' experience in various fields in Operations, Maintenance, Materials & Services, Business Support Services and Quality Management. He holds extensive knowledge on Operations and Maintenance of Combined Cycle and Coal Fired Plant and actively involves in many Quality and Change Management projects and Business Process Reengineering / Business Turnaround projects embarked by TNB. He has been assigned with a number of business turnaround projects and currently involved in the project management of the new 1000 MW project with the state of the art technology Ultra Supercritical Boilers (Manjung 4). He will be in charge of the largest power station in Malaysia with the full capacity of 3100 MW, once the 1000MW unit ready in March 2015.

He is actively involved in Asian Sub-Bituminuous User Group Asia and holds the Chairmanship for 2013.

He is currently the Managing Director and also a Board Member of TNB Janamanjung Sdn. Bhd. and also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TNB Western Energy Sdn. Bhd.

A decorated entrepreneur with diversified industry specific experience in the Malaysian and international healthcare scene Shahnas made the daring move from a wage earner to an entrepreneur on 10 February 2006, building Natural Wellness from a small start up in Kuala Lumpur to a company with international presence multiplying company value five times within 8 years. This transformation created an achievement oriented individual with a focused business acumen driven to set and exceed corporate goals coupled with excellent interpersonal relationships and leadership qualities. Proudly, Natural Wellness today stands out as a stellar multi-award winning example of a small company that held fast to unconventional values driving innovation while embarking on sharp growth and learning curves into uncharted territories of healthcare. The collaborative efforts receive the attention and support of the highest of the government and industry echelon. Despite this, Shahnas modestly states that her work has just begun with the formation of The Farrash Foundation and the causes it supports.

Shahnas has an enviable resume having undergone executive training in the prestigious University of Cambridge, United Kingdom as well as the University of California, USA, Mission Bay and Berkeley campuses. She read her B. Pharm (Hons) in University Sains Malaysia in 1994 after which she completed her housemanship at the National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau, Ministry of Health Malaysia. Shahnas then obtained her MBA from University of South Australia in 1998 and is trying to work on her thesis to qualify for a doctorate from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Her other intellectual pursuits are through being a student of AL Kauthar Institute and the Islamic University of North America.

On a more personal note, Shahnas is a well decorated entrepreneur receiving awards for her achievements both locally and internationally. In September 2011 she was honoured as a Woman Innovator during the APEC Women and the Economy Summit in San Francisco USA for innovative achievements, extraordinary leadership and significant contributions to the economy. Shahnas has been invited to share her experience and receive the Global Award for Outstanding Contribution to Quality & Leadership by the World Quality Congress & Awards, to be held in Mumbai, India in June 2014. She also received the SMI Women Entrepreneur Award 2012 and the Asia Pacific Most Promising Entrepreneur Award 2010 as recognition for her entrepreneurial skills.

Besides being a competitive swimmer during her youth, Shahnas has a blue belt in taekwendo and is a PADI certified diver. She is also an accomplished pianist having completed Grade 8 in the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music when she was 14 years old. Her current interests include reading, in line skating, water sports and charity work.

Shahnas has been invited to sit as an Executive Council Member on organizations including Persatuan Siswazah Wanita Malaysia and the Malaysian Organisation of Pharmaceutical Industries as well as among others, the Pharmacy chapter in the Malay Chamber of Commerce. She has also received appointment as a Board of Studies member for the International Islamic University Malaysia’s Master in Industrial Pharmacy programme. She is often featured in numerous publications and invited as a guest speaker to share her expertise and experience.

He was Head of Estate Development, Strategic Management and Common Services up-to 2011. He is currently Managing Director overseeing overall Asian Agri operations.

Christopher leads Corporate Engagement and Government Relations for Monsanto Asia-Pacific, and is a member of the Asia-Pacific Region Leadership Team (APLT). He is responsible for leading the Company's Sustainability, Corporate Philanthropy, Stakeholder Engagement & Corporate Marketing Strategy, Partnerships and Programs, towards improving farmers' lives and achieving sustainability in agriculture. He also Co-Leads the industry association - CropLife Asia's Advocacy Committee. In his role, he works to engage and energize a diverse set of stakeholders on the need, challenges and solutions for and farmers' progress and sustainability of food and agriculture.

Chris is passionate about the potential of farmers and agriculture for Asia and the planet, and contribution of innovative products, services, partnerships and people to help improve lives.

Prior to this role, Chris led Sustainability, CSR, Public Affairs & Corporate Marketing for Monsanto's India Region; and earlier Marketing Lead for the biotech cotton business – a role which included rural marketing of the Bollgard brand of in-the-seed insect protection technologies, corporate marketing to commemorate India's cotton revolution, and developing marketing strategy to meet farmers' needs in insect protection and weed management with Monsanto's third-generation biotechnologies.

His earlier roles included leading Public Affairs for Monsanto India, and communications for ABLE-AG and CropLife Asia - the biotech industry associations in India and Asia-Pacific. Prior to it, he was General Manager at Madison Public Relations where he led the Procter & Gamble business, gaining experience in consulting with a number of companies in the areas of influencer marketing and brand PR, corporate image, cause-related marketing & social responsibility, issue management, and industry communications. He began his career with Eudekh International - Shell Marine Lubricants' sole distributor in India, in 1994.

Christopher has received several awards & recognitions in his career incl. Monsanto's Global Marketing Excellence Award, 2012; Monsanto Excellence in Leadership Award, 2011; P&G Medal of Honour for Outstanding Performance, 2006; P&G Special Appreciation Award for Outstanding Contribution, 2003, 2005, 2006; P&G Special Appreciation Award for Breakthrough PR Campaigns, 2001, 2003, 2004.

Christopher is also co-founder of Q Theatre Productions (QTP) - a theatre company, and Thespo - India's premier youth theatre festival. Born in Mumbai, he lived the first six years of his life in Dar-es-salaam, Africa; then in India, and now in Singapore. He is passionate about football, drumming, theatre, tigers and nature; and holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English Literature, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications with a specialization in Public Relations - both from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai University.

Victoria Great is responsible for the Corporate Social Responsibility programs in the Asia region. She has over 20 years of experience at P&G and is currently based at P&G's regional headquarters in Singapore. She joined the company in the UK and had held roles responsible for Communications in the UK, Italy and Singapore.

P&G's corporate social responsibility activities include a number of comprehensive programs focused on providing clean water, education, health and hygiene programs to communities in the region. The flagship program is the not-for-profit P&G's Children's Safe Drinking Water program which partners with NGOs to deliver an innovative water purification sachet called the P&G Purifier of Water to help purify contaminated water. This has been used extensively in disaster relief efforts in the Asia region and in communities where there is an ongoing lack of clean water. Victoria has been leading the work in the Asia region, and was personally involved in helping to get P&G's Purifier of water product to the 2008 Myanmar Cyclone disaster. More recently she has been involved in supporting P&G's disaster relief efforts in Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand affected by typhoons, earthquake and flooding disasters. She has travelled to Cambodia on several occasions to support the water and sanitation programs with World Vision. She has worked with a range of local and international NGO organizations such as Save the Children, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross and World Vision.

In her free time, Victoria is a passionate hands-on volunteer. Each year she dedicates time to volunteering activities and has helped to build kindergarten and primary schools in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Philippines, and Myanmar with World Vision. She has been the sponsor of a child in Cambodia for the past 6 years. She is an active fundraiser for these projects, including completing a 10 km run on the Great Wall of China. She is a true advocate and passionate believer in helping touch and improve the lives of less fortunate communities in the Asia region.

Elvera Nuriawati Makki (Vera) joined Mercedes-Benz Indonesia in August 2012 as Deputy Director Corporate Communication & Public Affairs (the name of Public Affairs changed to External Affairs in 2014). Reported directly to the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Indonesia, she leads the department and is responsible for external communication, internal communication, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and government relations.

Under her leadership, the reputation of Mercedes-Benz Indonesia is further strengthened as the leader in premium automotive industry. She manages PR strategy and elevates media relations especially with the automotive and lifestyle media. Vera also enlivens the internal communication within the company including the factory through various channels such as internal magazine, email blast, and internal event activation.

In the area of CSR, she created employee volunteer program to be embedded in the CSR strategy. Together with her team, she created 'Starlight' concept, which meaning is inspired by the Mercedes-Benz logo of three pointed star. Starlight Crew is referred to the employees who actively participate in the employee volunteer program while Starlight Children is designated to the beneficiaries of the CSR pillar on education. The campaign "Starlight Children for a Brighter Future" has engaged 10 elementary schools, 138 teachers, and 4746 students.

Before working at Mercedes-Benz Indonesia, Vera earned extensive experiences in communication for more than 15 years. She started her career as a radio announcer at Ardan FM (1995-1998) when she was pursuing a bachelor degree in International Relations at Catholic Parahyangan University, Bandung, West Java. She received merit scholarship from University of Houston, Texas, US in English literature for one year, after which Vera returned to Jakarta and worked as Public Relations Officer at the five-star Hotel Mulia Senayan. In the late 1999, Vera took the challenge to become a PR Consultant at Ogilvy Public Relations worldwide where she handled clients in IT for brand PR and state-owned enterprises for crisis management. In 2005, she joined Indo Pacific Reputation Management Consultant (now Edelman Public Relations) as the Public Affairs Manager.

Her career stepped up to PT Unilever Indonesia, Tbk. in 2006 as External Communication Assistant Manager for hygiene and personal care brands and immediately in two years she was promoted to be Internal Communication Manager. In 2007, Vera led the Unilever communication team to be the winner of Stevie Awards for The Best Communication Team. Stevie Awards is perceived as the Oscar in business industry where Donald Trump is one of the final judges.

In 2010, Vera earned Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) from International Association of Business Communicators headquartered in San Francisco, US. Among hundreds of ABC recipients worldwide, Vera became the first Indonesian who earned the accreditation.

In 2011, Vera accepted the challenge to be Corporate Affairs Manager at Fonterra Brands Indonesia, a dairy multi-national company from New Zealand. Her responsibility includes external communication, internal communication, CSR, and government relations. She was also a lecturer at University of Indonesia, Communication Science Department, Social and Political Faculty in 2010-2013 for international dual degree in communication.

In her personal life, Vera established Taman Baca Anak Lebah (Bee Children Reading Garden), a non-profit, non-political initiative with a mission to instill a love of reading of Indonesian children starts at early age. The main activity is to donate free children story books to eastern part of Indonesia which is now located in 30 areas (Lombok, Trenggalek, Ambon, Saparua island, Seram island, and Wakatobi). After five years of running the libraries, Vera initiated a campaign named #SemangatiGuru (Encouraging Teacher), a crowd funding program to help teachers attaining supporting materials in teaching in the classroom. Enjoy story-telling for an international school during spare time, she believes that making an impact to surroundings can start from a small step.

A mother of 3 children (11, 8, and 8-months), Vera (38) put the highest standard of ethic and integrity at work and in personal life. Vera appreciates teamwork, discipline, passion and continuous learning. She believes that the biggest room is a room for improvement.

As the Head of External Relation, Budhi Santoso is responsible to manage all of the company CSR programs. His duty also includes maintaining good relations to all stake holders both within the company such as Board of Directors also outside the company from the Local Authorities down to community leaders, NGO, villagers especially the beneficiaries of the CSR programs.

Having hobbies of adventure and photography turn to be very helpful for him to do his duty in managing CSR programs as he get used to taking the best out of difficult terrain that he encounters. Managing Micro Hydro projects is one good example as this project is located in a very remote area up in the mountain where the water source is adequate all time during the year to give enough power for the turbine to run.

Graduated from a reputable business school, the University of Texas at Austin, also gives him extra benefit of having a broad perspective and a good networking capability.

Despite of his busy schedule organizing the CSR programs, he is still able and willing to participate in social activities by being an active member of off-road communities and photography clubs.

He joined PT YTL Jawa Timur since early 1998 until now where he contributed a lot of achievement to the company. One of the contributions is when PT Jawa Power & PT YTL Jawa Timur was awarded the PROPER Gold Rating in year 2013. He also continuously seeks to find any opportunity for improvement for the company especially in the CSR Program Development.

He has been in the power generation sector for 14 years where he involved in various project improvements for energy conservation, water conservation, waste reduction, waste utilization, coal/ fuel utilization, and flue gas cleaning system.

He has interest in the water processing technology and re-use of waste water where he pursued optimization project on water treatment processing, seawater RO desalination process and plant water conservation, resulting to reduction of electrical power, chemical treatment usage and waste water pollution to environment.

He also involved to control and monitor coal quality, coal combustion process and flue gas cleaning system (flue gas emission) of the 2 x 660 MW Coal Fired Power generation. His study with Claudia Bautsch, Dipl.-Ing, Ferdinand Grafahrend, Dipl.-Phy from HAMON Enviroserv on flue gas cleaning system, "Long-term Experiences and Development of Seawater Flue Gas Desulphurization Technology" was presented during Powergen Conference 2011.

As the corporate aims to develop green alternative energy for the surrounding community, under the CSR Programs, he coordinated the domestic biogas development programs. The 170 units of biogas has been constructed and used by beneficiaries by end of 2014 and additional 100 units to be constructed every year. He also involved in the development of Mangrove and Sea pines Conservation Area at Coastal area, Randutatah, Probolinggo, East Java.

During the period 2000 – 2007 she hold two posistions, as a Business Development Support Manager and Public Relations Manager as well in PT Astratel Nusantara. Baker also works on programs to eliminate the mobile phone gender gap by leveraging mobile technology to economically empower and educate women globally.

Previously, she served as an advisor in Secretary Hillary Clinton's Office of Innovation at the United States Department of State, where she worked on foreign policy goals connected to the 21st Century Statecraft agenda through bilateral and multilateral engagement with strategic partners on technology and development issues.

Prior to working in the Obama Administration, Baker worked for an international advocacy firm in Seattle, WA, where she helped to create nongovernmental organizations focused on helping those in need.

Baker has worked in several countries spanning Asia, Africa, South America, the Middle East and Europe. She has a Master's Degree in International Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and sits on the board of Running Start, an organization that works to bring more young women to politics and leadership roles.
